Meet Emilia Smith, Austrian delegation

Hi, my name is Emilia, but my friends call me Emils. I will celebrate my 17th birthday on the 16th of June. My best friend would describe me as funny, trustworthy and punctual.
My parents think that I am reliable and very sociable (sometimes a bit messy), but I guess my younger (but taller) brother Harry, who just turned 14, would say that I can be rather bossy too.
I’m really proud of belonging to two cultures, because I’m half Austrian and half British.
In our family a conversation can be a bit confusing for others, because Harry and I speak English to our dad and German to our mum and my parents speak English to each other.
As to my hobbies, I love playing my violin, which I’ve been doing for the last 12 years. I also enjoy dancing (classic and modern) and kickboxing. One of my favourite things to do to relax is reading a good book (lately I’ve read a lot about women’s rights).
I want to take part at the peace camp, because I really want to learn more about other countries and what it feels like to live in a country with political conflicts.
Normally I only hear adults and politicians talk about these topics, but I want to understand my generation’s perspective too. I can contribute tolerance and an open mind. I like helping and supporting people by listening to their problems and trying to find a solution.
So I hope to take more understanding and a new view of the world back home.
